As from 1st December 2011 you will need to make an appointment if you wish to obtain any official certification from the British Consulate in Alicante .... however, emergency passport applications will be exempt which will continue to be available 8.30-13.30pm Monday to Friday without the need of a prior appointment.Among the many services available at the Consulate, this affects any British citizens wishing to get married in Spain, importing a vehicle, taking oaths or affirmations or wanting any official documentation. They are implementing an appointment system to be able to deliver a more "customer friendly and efficient service" and avoid the sometimes long queues that can form at the Consulate. This service will allow customers to book their appointments from the comfort of their own homes at any time of the day and receive immediate confirmation.
At present, appointments can be booked by emailing the British Consulate at Alicante.Consulate@fco.gov.uk with "Notarial appointment request" in the subject line. An on-line appointment system, similar to that at the Centro de Salud will be introduced shortly. For those without access to email you can call the Consulate on 902 109 356.
