Today as announced a chapter of  bikers all on Harley Davidsons roared into the parking lot outside the sports centre. They made their presence felt with the reving of the motors. It was all fun. Below is a selection of the participant's bikes. There was also a "Dnipro" motor cycle with side car  taking part. This particular model was manufactured in Kyiv during the Second World War by the Germans. It was a prototype of the BMW.

The market is a bustling place  with all nationalities mingling looking for a bargain.   The stall holders, some on their personal pitches, others on makeshift tables sell everything,  both new and old.  Compatible printer inks can be bought for 3€, also antiquated mirrors and chests, a variety of  Dutch cheeses - virtually anything!

Driving down the Avd Mediteraneo this afternoon, I could not help but notice the board outside one of the many bars. As prices for beer in the UK rose last week to over £3 - due to the VAT rise, here in Benidorm they seem to have come down !!!!For those of you that can't see the small board, here is a close up. Yes, it does say 1 euro for a PINT of San Miguel  - and that's NOT a Happy Hour special price - its ALL DAY"

News Snippets

  • Cinema ban lifted +

Saudi Arabia has lifted a 35 year ban on public cinemsa! All but one of the country's cinemas were shut down in the 1980's as many religious leaders believed Western films encouraged sin. Over the next decade around 300 licenses are expected to be granted, creating many 1000's of jobs.
  • Obesity capital +

Britain is shamefully at the top of the leader board for obesity in both males and females. The report shows 26.9% of British men are obese compared to an average European rate of 22.9% - the least obese are in Portugal, at 19.8%. Women fare even worse, with 29.2% obese versus Austria at only 16.3%! Failure to exercise and an excessive drinking culture are thought to have contributed to these shocking statistics. Soon the Brits will be taking the crown off America...
  • Festive Pizza +

From December 7, select Asda stores will be selling a Christmas dinner pizza! The toppings will include Brussel sprouts, roast potatoes and strips of roast chicken drizzled with cranberry sauce. They will be available in two sizes - 10 inch at £2.60 and 14 inch at £4... Ho Ho Ho.
  • You are what you eat! +

The ingredients have to by law be listed on the labels, but do you really know the breakdown of what goes in your mouth? A 400gm jar of Nutella chocolate spread is 55% sugar and only 7% cocoa, meaning that a 20gm serving contains 3 teaspoons of sugar and only 2 hazelnuts. There is NO chicken in a chicken & mushroom pot noodle and 65% of Flora Light is water. But did you know that 99.8% of diet coke is water, with the remaining 0.2% colour, sweetner and flavouring.
  • Monarch goes bust +

Monarch airlines have gone out of business after nearly 50 years of trading - very sad news. 2,750 staff are now without a job and 110,000 Monarch customers are abroad at the moment - but ALL will be flown back to the UK more or less at the same time of their original planned return.
  • Driving ban lifted +

After a 60 year long ban, women will be allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia. A royal decree issued by King Salman should be in place by June 2018. The country was mocked after a picture appeared with an all female aircrew landing a jet - even though none would be allowed to drive a car!
