Originally Pink Weekend was held in October to replace the changed Pride dates, but it has now become an annual event to be held in May - with this years date confirmed as Friday 16th until Sunday 18th May. The driving force is Sammy Kruz - who last year did a great job of the Pride.

Old Town

The action will all be centered around the Old Town, which has a thriving and atmospheric Gayscene. Benidorm is fast becoming a destination hotspot for the Gay community, mainly thanks to its relaxed, tolerant and easygoing attitude.
For those that have never been to the Old Town you are certainly missing out - it is like a sanctum and completely different to the loud and boisterous Rincon area. It has a feel of traditional Spain - narrow cobbled streets with an abundance of boutiques, bars and restaurants.

Party time

There will be 3 solid days and nights of partying and activities in the streets so prepare yourselves. Although there is no parade like for the Pride in October, it certainly won´t stop anyone dressing up - the more flamboyant and kitsch the better, don´t be shy! Glitz and sparkle are the order of the day - and night. The streets will be decorated and bars will be organizing plenty of pink themed events to which everyone is welcome.

Places and events to look out for include "Play your Cards Right" - but with a special twist at Casa Don Juan, hosted by HRH the Duchess of Benidorm, starting well after midnight and "Pink Bingo" at Sensations on Sunday afternoon, hosted by Miss Ricardi Breezer and Miss Stella Artois - all 3 are striking and magnificent Drag Queens here.

Benidorm Pride

Gay Pride Benidorm 2013
There will be a fantastic party atmosphere throughout the area and a great introduction to the start of the busy season - consider it a little taster to the Pride Week, which has been confirmed from 8th to 14th SEPTEMBER. The parade, which many consider to be the highlight will take place on Saturday 13th at 6pm and this year the event will finish with a grand finale concert at Benidorm Palace on Sunday 14th at 9pm.

There is a great variety and selection of places to eat in and during the week a brand new restaurant ¨Christopher´s" had it´s official opening night, at which Benidorm royalty, The Duchess performed the honour - in full regalia as one would expect!

The Duchess of Benidorm

Chris escorting The Duchess
Christopher´s is located in the heart of the Old Town, on Calle Santa Faz, which is just off the popular walking street at the Dove Park end - there is a Venetian mask shop on the corner.
The Duchess certainly turned a few heads as she was escorted from the Casa Don Juan, where she normally resides up to the restaurant - complete with inaugural bottle of champagne in hand!

A crowd soon followed and had gathered outside, curiously observing the eye catching Duchess - hardly surprising considering that she stood out somewhat. Holiday makers were passing, on route back from the beach in what appeared to be little more than a cheese wire and string vest!

The team at Christopher´s
It is an intimate and classy venue, beautifully decorated and open from 6pm daily - on Sunday from 1pm for lunch. There is a fantastic attentive team assisting Chris, who produced a wonderful buffet for the opening party which went down incredibly well.

Make sure you head to the Old Town - if you can´t make the Pink Weekend there is still a great party atmosphere year round.
