Star Zaza and Pascalle
Did you know that today, 21st March is International Down Syndrome Day? The date is particularly symbolic - 3/21, as it represents what it is.... a third copy of the 21st chromosome! Peoples reactions and perceptions of those with Downs are sadly still tainted with ignorance - it is not contagious and they are not ill, they are just different.

To celebrate this date here on the Costa Blanca, a local dance and theatre company, Streetwise Productions present "Happy Feet" - a show loosely based on the film. The star of the show is 8 year old Zaza - who is affected with Downs in addition to a heart condition.... but it certainly hasn´t stopped her! Accompanying Zaza will be an International cast of children, aged between 4 and 17 years old, who will act, sing and dance. The production is directed and choreographed by Pascalle Bruens and the company´s own charity "Children Helping Children" will donate a percentage of the takings to the local Mundomar Dolphin Therapy Programme, which helps youngsters with learning difficulties.

The story is about how it´s OK to be different and will show everyone how to overcome and win acceptance from others.
The film is fiction - the show is fact....

There will be two performances - tonight, 21st and tomorrow 22nd at the Auditorium in La Nucia. The show starts at 8pm and tickets, available from the box office cost 12 euros.
