Yesterday afternoon was the "Benidorm Bites Back" benefit concert in aid of David Wenzel - one quarter of fantastically talented "One Vision"... and Benidorm certainly bit back!

David suffered a fractured skull and two haemorrhages following a totally unprovoked attack by a Brit who was on holiday here and spent 10 days in hospital. The culprit is now back in the UK and the event was to try and raise funds for the legal costs of putting this man in prison where he belongs. A very clear message needs to be sent out - yes come here, enjoy yourselves, have a drink, but DO NOT behave like drunken animals.... if that is your intention then go somewhere else! Rant over....

Packed out...
Well the Dunkirk spirit was certainly evident at The Palladium - the Brits always pulls together to get through difficult times. The place was absolutely packed - people stood shoulder to sweaty shoulder, but no one minded in the least as it was all for such a tremendous cause. Emma, Darren and Mark worked tirelessly - with Emma running around all afternoon and they should be so proud of themselves. A special mention must go to the brilliant Paul Devlin, otherwise known as Chunky B who compered the afternoon and kept everything running smoothly.

Albi Senior
Albi Senior never fails to to get the crowds going and the room continually roared with laughter  - in between the gasps and looks of disbelief of what he had just said.... it most certainly wouldn´t be allowed back in politically correct Blighty!

Is there a hold up ?
He then hosted a game of Irish Bingo - that was a new one for me. Everyone had to predict whether the flipped coin would land on heads or tails and place their hands accordingly - either on their head for heads or bum for tails. This continued until there was only one person standing! Very clever.... I have obviously led a very sheltered as I had never heard of it before.

The Timeless boys were fantastic - such smooth soul singers, a delight to listen to and everyone sang along to the classics. Others who kept the packed room entertained included Mampuele aka Michael Jackson, Bon Jovi / Bryan Adams, Meatloaf, Showaddywaddy and the stars themselves - Emma Louise, Darren and Mark as One Vision.

Timeless....
There way an array of auction and raffle prizes, all donated by local bars, shops and businesses - and some not so local. There was even a prize for tram & bus passes and a luxury 2 night stay at The Park hotel on the North Pier in Blackpool - where the group have strong links to. Chunky certainly makes a good auctioneer - maybe a future career path for him!

The afternoon raised a tremendous 3996.50 euros - well done to everyone that came and supported the event and particularly the entertainers and everyone who helped backstage. We all wish David a full and speedy recovery...
