On Tuesday 17th September there will be a unique event combining a book signing and variety show to raise money for the AECC - the national Spanish Cancer charity. The evening has been organised by Pamela Dawson Tasker, who works tirelessly to fundraise for the charity and local broadcasting legend Vince Tracy. Originally from Liverpool, Vince has years of broadcasting experience, having started his career on Radio Merseyside, an appearance on Radio One before ending up here on the Costa Blanca where he could be heard on ex-pat radio Onda Cero for 8 years until they closed.

The book is the autobiography of Vince and entitled "The Long and Winding Road - from the Beatles to Benidorm" and the show will reflect aspects of the book with music and an array of special guests. Rockin Rupert will delight you with his eclectic mix of 50´s Rock n Roll cabaret and Father Ignashus will inject some humour into the evening. George Long, an incredibly talented guitar and mandolin player will get you reminiscing when you hear him banging out a mix of the Beatles interspersed with classic Irish rock folk.

There will also be an OCI reunion with Alan Freeman and Pauline McGough, Irish Des - obviously playing some Irish jigs, Ray aka Mr Guitar and many more. If you love the Rock and Roll era then this is a definite must see - plus its all for a fantastic cause.

Doors of the Casa de Cultura in Alfaz open at 19.30pm where Vince will be doing his book signing in the foyer and the concert kicks off at 20.00pm and finish at aprox 22.30pm with a short break half way through. Like so many people along the coast Vince´s family have suffered losses at the hands of cancer - his sister sadly succumbed just as the book was published and he wants to dedicate the book launch in memory of Margaret and raise awareness and the profile of the work that this worthwhile charity does.

There are so many requests for money and when times are hard it can be difficult, but this is something that touches so many peoples lives a little really does go a long way.
Tickets cost 10 euros and are available at the Cancer charity shops in Alfaz and Albir and also at the Giving4Giving shop in La Nucia. Alternatively you can reserve a ticket by calling Pam on 966 860 735.
