Today (Saturday) and tomorrow there is a Christmas craft market on the Plaza Mayor, the main square of La Nucia - just in front of the church and Town Hall building.
The aim of the weekend is to raise funds which will go towards the local charity food bank, helping those families in the town that are struggling financially... which unfortunately is many.
It will be open until 10pm today and on Sunday from 10am until 8pm in the evening.

The stalls are all run by local charity groups and associations, selling a variety of hand made products such as Christmas ornaments for the tree, nativity figures made during workshops organised by the towns Social Services, cakes & bakes and other Christmas themed products.

For the children there is a mini farmyard with chickens, goats, rabbits and even a peacock! I bet the only chickens some of those children have ever seen are those in the fridge at Mercadona or Carrefour and shrink wrapped in cellophane!

Real animals....
The objective of the weekend is to show La Nucia residents the work done by volunteers within the town, who hold daily and weekly workshops. They can then sell the products made at events such as this, with the money going towards local charities.

Throughout the 2 days there will be performances by various dance & music groups and on Sunday at 12 noon there will be a children´s storytelling session. In the evenings there will be a stall with hot chocolate and donuts run by one of the local penya´s.
