Beautiful backdrop to the market
Located on Plaza del Puerto, the promenade in front of the Casino Mediterraneo and next to the large "pirate" ship at Alicante harbour, you will find an outlet fair with more than 70 stalls.

It is not like the usual Sunday market which you find in Benidorm or any other town in the province, but made up of local shop keepers who are looking to sell off the ends of their summer stock. One stall holder said " Iam very happy because yesterday on the first day I sold as much in one day as I normally do in an entire week".
What a large bottle I managed to find!

There are stalls selling clothing, footwear, home accessories, handbags, sports goods, gift lines, leather goods..... even the looky looky men are lurking on the periphery hoping to entice some of the visitors with a pair of "Gucci" or "Armani" sunglasses!

Although called an "Outlet Fair" its not like a factory outlet where items are next to nothing or specially produced seconds. They are all local businesses hoping to sell off the remains of  Summer merchandise to make way for new Winter stock. They are taking this opportunity, and good weather to sell off at discounts of up to 75% in some cases.

The fair is only on for another 2 days ... finishing on Sunday evening. It is open from 10.00am until 8.00pm. With the weather looking good over this weekend it makes for a lovely day out.

Instead of driving you can catch the tram from Benidorm right to the harbour (last stop), where you literally cross the road and you are there. Go for a wonder, stop and have a coffee - there is a bar stall and also a coffee shop.

If you are in an energetic mood you can even climb up to the Santa Barbara castle which you can see from the harbour, go and look around the pirate ship or altenatively, if you are feeling lucky pop into the casino - but remember you need to take photo ID to get in.

You may not come back with anything but its certainly a nice way to spend the weekend!
