The special medical centre which opened in the middle of December of last year has already added four more specialists: Endocrine (hormones and glands), Neurology, Allergy and Physiotherapy, to the existing Midwifery and Sexual and Reproductive Health.
The centre covers for a population of 79.500 spread over 12 municipalities in the Marina Baixa area. Its four storeys encompass 15 consulting zones, with waiting rooms and a gymnasium. Within the next year the following specialists should be added: General surgery, Pulmonology, Digestive medicine, Rheumatology, Dermatology, Urology, Cardiology, Gyneocology, Opthalmology, Diagnostic radiology and Mental Health.
The mayor Bernabe Cano said that it has been an achievement to create a centre in La Nucia, so its residents don’t have to travel to Foietes (Benidorm) or La Vila (Villa Joyosa Hospital) to see a specialist.
