So the curse of rowdy and reckless Stag & Hen groups is not just confined to Benidorm I see! In an attempt to change the image of Blackpool, the tourism boss Graham Cain said that "Stag & Hen parties should go somewhere else", suggesting Manchester and Liverpool as alternatives!

Is banning Stag & Hens viable?

However, unsurprisingly following a backlash from businesses associated and reliant on the tourism industry, he quickly retracted his statement and said he meant that "unruly behavior and inappropriate dress" should be clamped down on as it is putting off visitors to the resort.This is an issue common to all popular holiday destinations and major UK cities at the weekend.

Dress code will be impossible to apply

Blackpool wants to restrict "inappropriate dress during the daytime" – but how on earth that can be enforced is beyond me. Blackpool council member Gillian Campbell said that PSPO´s – Public spaces protection orders could be used to target the dress of Stag & Hens, with on the spot fines issued where deemed it having a "detrimental effect" on the quality of local life! Lets hope that there aren´t any radical sharia abiding Muslims enforcing these proposals otherwise they will have any women not wearing a full burka coughing up! I think that rather than clothing they should firstly concentrate more on drunken behavior and foul language.

Most groups are well behaved

Following the front page publication of a nude British stag in a Benidorm bar, the Town Hall also decided that enough is enough and are currently looking into bringing about a public decency bylaw to ban such behavior. Benidorm is a popular Stag & Hen destination and on the whole, most are well behaved like the girls pictured. As with all things, it is the minority that spoil it for the rest by overstepping the mark. Benidorm certainly wouldn´t and couldn´t afford to ban them, as I believe that Blackpool probably cannot either.

Live sex shows

However, I personally don´t think it appropriate to be advertising live sex shows on huge boards on the pavement for all to see and the Town hall should tighten up on this sort of "entertainment". After all, Benidorm like Blackpool is actually a family friendly resort and so should address these issues in the first instance.

Cheap booze - the main magnet

Benidorm is often referred to as Blackpool but with sun, attracting similar clientele. However, pound for pound I bet that Benidorm is cheaper if you disregard the cost of the flights – but we have the weather! Pints of lager for 1.50€ is the main attraction as is the very reasonable cost of eating out.
