Probably one of the madness events of the Benidorm fiesta calendar took place in the early hours of the morning – Correfoc! Translated into English, Corre means run and Foc is fire… and that is exactly what you do, run from the fire!

Thousands, including children and numerous puzzled Brits, who couldn’t quite believe what they were seeing, attended this bizarre spectacle. It all started in the town hall a little after 2am, with most covering their heads with hats and scarves, obviously knowing what to expect.
The procession weaved through the streets of the old town and finished a little after 4am beside Dove Park, where a further spectacular acrobatic firework display took place on a stage… and actually set one of the palm trees alight, causing an even greater reaction from the crowds
