taxi rankIn a bid to smarten up, the Taxi Driver Association have proposed that all their drivers should confirm to a set standard regarding appearance, which has been accepted by Benidorm town hall. Drivers will no longer be allowed to wear jeans or corduroy trousers but instead men will be required to wear black, navy or blue trousers and ladies a suitable length skirt of the same colour.

No t-shirts or sleeveless tops, instead a short or long sleeved shirt – dependent on weather or a polo shirt with collar. Also added to the list are no sweatshirts, sports garments or trainers. Perhaps they will also bring a similar acceptable standard of dress for their passengers?

stagMost shops in Spain already require you to wear a top, predominantly for hygiene purposes – but men still get served at most bars topless. Perhaps the authorities should also take a look at what is deemed acceptable around the resort when it comes to attire worn by visitors, especially from the stag groups!

dancer on beachfrontThe issue of virtually naked podium dancers is also a contentious subject, especialy as the resort is trying to promote itself as a 'family friendly' holiday destination. Even a bar right on the Levante beachfront has them gyrating on a Sunday afternoon. It seems endemic that all the bars now have them as standard in a bid to attract male customers.

Go Go dancerIt may be acceptable in more of an adult environment, around the square or at least after dark when it is unlikely children and families will be walking about. Yesterday in a bid to be patriotic, even one of the girls covered her modesty with St George stickers - imaginative if nothing else, but the audience she was attempting to attract were all too busy celebrating England's win!
