Many patriotic Brits dressed for the occasion in Red, White and Blue to watch the coronation of King Charles III in Benidorm today. Almost every bar in the Rincon de Loix broadcast the event live on wide screen televisions... and many sat there riveted for the two-hour ceremony.
The sun shone – unlike in London and spirits were high, both alcoholic and emotion as they toasted what they realised was a historic event. Although not on the scale of St Patrick´s Day, many bars did decorate with bunting and balloons for the celebration.
Benidorm town hall even lit up the 20 meter tall Tecnohito tower, located at the end of the Avenida Mediterraneo with a congratulatory message to King Charles – a gesture appreciated by many of the Brits that saw it.
