The spectacular and much-anticipated Moors and Christians fiesta has just taken place in neighbouring Altea – the highlight of the annual calendar. The parades took place over two separate dates – first the Christians last Saturday night followed by the Moors on Monday night. Spectators lined the entire route, standing shoulder to shoulder, cheering and clapping as the procession passed by.
The costumes as always were simply stunning and the face painting was on another level entirely! Cameras constantly flashed as each group went by and many recorded it on their mobiles. It was a real family event with plenty of children also taking part, as well as horses, plenty of bands and a number of choreographed dance routines in between.
An entire year is spent fundraising to help pay towards the cost of hiring of the costumes for this spectacular annual event. Benidorm´s Moors & Christians parade will be taking place this Saturday, September 30, starting at 20:00 according to the town hall.
