Well Carlos Alcaraz did it for Spain in the tennis... lets see what will happen later tonight. Benidorm is cetainly all geared up with extra deliveries of beer to ensure there will be plenty, whether in celebration or commiseration.

Virtually every bar will be broadcasting the match and supporters of both countries will be out in force - trying to out cheer one another. Numerous bars along calle Gerona have decorated with England flags or bunting plus red and white balloons to attract the Brits.  

Extra police have been drafted in from Alicante and Valencia to assist the local officers and everyone is hoping that Benidorm won´t be in the news for the wrong reasons tomorrow morning... but with many already on the beer by midday who knows...

Fans had already staked their places by mid afternoon around the giant poolside screen of the popular Marina hotel, with many taking a dip to cool down in the blazing 31 degree sunshine. The entire length of calle Gerona has been taped off with no parking allowed and the twon hall issued a rule to bars that all drinks had to be served in plastic glasses after 18.00 to avoid any potential incidents. 

The match is being broadcast for Spanish fans at the outdoor Julio Iglesias auditorium and expected to be packed out.
