  • Well the Guinness was certainly flowing in Benidorm this afternoon as Calle Gerona filled with people out celebrating St Patrick´s Day. The event turned into a weekend celebration this year with plenty of leprechauns running around!Everyone went to great lengths to join in the party atmosphere, with green the colour of the day. Many bars put of special live entertainment - and with the weather resembling a summer afternoon, the drinks flowed!

  • What a turnout in Benidorm today - if you can’t get to Ireland then the next best place has to be here.

    The sun shone and the crowds turned out for the annual St Patrick’s Day celebrations, which seem to be getting bigger and busier each year. From around 12 noon people started gathering, dressed in a variety of outfits, with the common theme being green!

  • The sun shone – well for the first half of the day at least and Calle Gerona in the Rincon de Loix turned green to celebrate the Patron Saint of Ireland. St Patrick’s day is big business here in Benidorm and many of the bars embraced the occasion, with bunting, flags, balloons and shamrocks decorating their premises. Most dressed up – although there was one very brave gent wearing not much apart from his shamrock glasses and Guinness hat… but then this is Benidorm!

  • Oh what a craic it has been here...with clear blue skies and temperatures in the 20´s, there was no stopping many taking to the streets of Benidorm today to celebrate St Patrick´s Day. Calle Gerona turned into a sea of green, including many of the shops, who had a roaring trade selling green wigs, t-shirts, tutu´s and hats.Plenty of bars embraced the occasion, with bunting, balloons, shamrocks and flags decorating their terraces.

Figures show that one in three young British adults have at least one, with many emulating celebrities such as David Beckham, One Directions Harry Styles, Angelina Jolie and Cara Delevingne. There are numerous tattoo and piercing studios here in Benidorm, much like many typical towns and cities across the UK – but one thing that has been missing here is a Tattoo Convention. Over 400 are held worldwide every year and in 2017, Benidorm will host its first ever, over the St Patrick’s Day weekend - which also coincides with the Spanish Fallas

  • An extraordinary achievement has been made here by an expat - the very first LEGAL British run bookmaker in the whole of Spain is to open in Benidorm, which unsurprisingly, is called the “British Bookie”! Everyone who lives here knows the difficulty and complications involved in getting any kind of paperwork sorted, whether it be applying for an NIE number, Spanish driving license or residencia. So multiply that a hundred fold and you can just begin to imagine what Kath and Peter – the proud owners of the British Bookie, located next to the Gallowgate Bar have been through these last months… and to think they left Glasgow to come and take it easy!

  • The streets of Benidorm were a sea of green over the weekend, as hundreds descended on the town to celebrate Irelands national day - St Patrick´s Day.The celebrations started on the Friday, when the weather was glorious... unfortunately by Sunday it had turned somewhat Irish-like, grey and a little drizzle at times. But as you will see, it certainly didn´t stop anyone having fun!

  • Benidorm is in full party mode this week with not one but two major events taking place – St Patrick’s Day, predominantly for the Brits and the Fallas. Both are fantastic but culturally miles apart and if you can, then try and get to see both.The green day has even made it onto the official Benidorm Town Hall fiesta calendar this year, proving what an important (economic) event it is!

  • With clear blue skies and temperatures in the mid 20’s here in Benidorm today there was no stopping many taking to the streets, especially in the Rincon this afternoon to celebrate St Patrick’s Day. Many of the bars embraced the occasion, with bunting, balloons , shamrocks and flags decorating their terraces. Most people also enthusiastically embraced the theme, at the least wearing something green or a garland around their necks whilst others went for full-on fancy-dress, with an interesting selection.

  • When it comes to partying and having a good time, the Irish certainly take top spot. Each year on St Patrick´s Day, Benidorm turns into a sea of green and leading the field for atmosphere and entertainment is The Shamrock Irish Pub on Calle Gerona. But you don´t have to wait till next March before you can enjoy the craic again – for this weekend The Shamrock celebrates its 20th Anniversary and they will be holding the biggest party of the year.
