FROM THE AIRPORT TO BENIDORM

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive

busesThe wheels have touched down on the runway and the seatbelt sign hasn´t even been turned off, yet everyone is already clambering to retrieve their bags from the overhead lockers – sound familiar? On disembarking be prepared for a lengthy walk – if you are not that mobile then pre-book a wheelchair on arrival. It´s a hit and miss whether the passport control is manned but have your passports to hand just incase. Follow the signs for baggage reclaim and grab a trolley - they are free here. Once you have your luggage then make your way through the double automatic doors to the arrivals hall. What next?

arrivalFor those that have hired a car turn RIGHT and the car hire desks are all in front of you. If you have a private transfer booked then your driver should be there to meet you in the arrivals hall with a sign. Everybody else, head for the lifts, which are directly ahead of you as you exit luggage reclaim. If you have a shuttle transfer booked, with companies such as ABAS Costa Blanca, who are handling agents for many of the major shuttle companies then go to -2 (minus 2) and upon exiting the lifts, moving traveltors or stairs you will find the various stands. Company reps will greet you, explain the return transfer pick up arrangements and direct you to the correct coach number outside.

arrivals

If you are planning on using the ALSA bus, which is the equivalent of National Express then go to the departures level – floor 2. Turn right out of the terminal and walk to the furthest point where you will see the bus stop. The bus departs hourly, on the hour between 8:00am (although there is one at 6:15am) and 11:00pm but with NO service at 6pm, 8pm and 10:00pm and costs 9.45€ per person – no child discount and CASH ONLY. The journey takes 45 minutes and there are only 2 stops – first at the bus station then on to the Avd Europa, which is the best place to get off and very central for hotels. There is a taxi rank next to the bus stop on the Avd Europa if your accommodation is not within reasonable walking distance.

Providing information & news

For the thousands of ex-pats who have decided to make this their home, we endeavor to provide useful information and news, updates on changes in regulations – especially relating to health care & driving in Spain and important events in the community. We have a good working relationship with the British Consulate in Alicante as well as with all the local Town Halls. We also provide content for many of the  ex-pat newspapers and have a regular weekly in the Costa Blanca News, travel magazines including European Travel Magazine and take to the airwaves at Talk Radio Europe.

Working with the British media

Derren Litten presentationMany British television programs have been filmed and broadcast from Benidorm over the last few years, which we have been fortunate to be involved with.

We also instigated and organized the plaque presentation for Derren Litten, writer and creator of the ITV Benidorm series by the Mayor Agustin Navaro and the British Consul Paul Rodwell, in recognition of his contribution to boosting tourism by basing his hit comedy in the resort and were present at the private audience with the Mayor prior to the unveiling.

Interviews with the stars

Interviewing Jake canussoIn a survey which we ran we asked the question "Has the ITV Benidorm series persuaded you to come here on holiday" - and 62% said yes!

The Benidorm Series has truly done wonders in raising the profile of the town and we have been privileged to have interviewed many of the cast, producers and directors over the years.

All of the interviews can be viewed in the archive. We also helped to publicize the calendar bought out by actor Jake Canuso, who many consider the main attraction and star of the show - playing Spanish barman "Mateo".

Charity Work

Golf sponsorshipIt is always important to help those less fortunate and we try to do our bit whenever possible. We have sponsored a hole during a fundraising golf tournament for Emaus - a childrens charity here on the Costa Blanca and also ran a fancy dress competition during the British Fancy Dress Day in November for the same worthy charity. Later this year, in collaboration with Benidorm Palace we are hoping to organise a charity golf tournnment with some famous celebrities coming over specially from the UK. Comic Stan Boardman is one of those that is very keen to take part - and he has promised to bring over some celebrity pals with him.

Need a fixer?

Need a fixer? If you're planning a shoot in the Benidorm region we can help. We work as a fixer for documentaries, films and live TV.  We can help find contributors and locations at short notice! We have assisted with the sourcing of research material and finding suitable locations for programs such as BBC 2 documentary "This World", ITV ¨Daybreak" and also "This Morning" – which both had live broadcasts to the UK and also Spanish networks including RTVE - El Escarabajo verde.
