Busy Levante beach - it´s what they come for!
Figures just published by HOSBEC, the hoteliers association, show that Benidorm has had its best June of the last decade, with hotel occupancy at 91.5% - 1.6% higher than last year. Over half of that figure is accounted for by International visitors - of which the British market features prominently at 45.6%.
And the feel good factor continues as bookings for the month of July already stand at 83.3%, which is great news for the tourism sector here.

The Minister of Economy, Industry, Tourism & Employment - Maximum Buch met with HOSBEC president Antonio Mayor yesterday.  An agreement was signed between the hoteliers association and the Valencian Agency for Tourism to co-market and specifically to promote Benidorm within the Costa Blanca, both nationally and internationally. Starting next week there will be an ongoing television campaign and marketing material will also be distributed by tour operators, who are an important factor in the equation.

Poniente beach
With the weather in northern Europe unpredictable, it is no surprise that Benidorm is almost full to capacity. As well as the lively Levante beach, which is almost always packed you can venture slightly further along and opt for the much quieter Poniente beach - which has just had a magnificent make over  of the promenade.

In fact, Benidorm sand may be venturing further afield as the Mayor Agustin Navarro has sent letters to the Mayor of Madrid Ana Botella and also to the CEO of the Spanish Olympic Committee Alejandro Blanco, offering to supply the resorts beach sand if the 2020 bid is a success.

It will be used for beach volleyball and any other sports practiced on sand. Benidorm has always featured heavily for the people of Madrid as they treat it like their second home, flocking here during the month of August. Parking will be virtually impossible throughout the month as the Madrilenians - those from the city of Madrid, drive to Benidorm and leave their cars parked in the same spot for virtually their entire stay - and you can guarantee it will be one of the free white bays too!
