Filming on the Costa Blanca has certainly become a trend over the last few years.... it is not long now till the cameras and crew start arriving in Benidorm for series 6, but over the weekend many were surprised to see them appear in Alicante on the promenade.

A crew of 18 turned up as a scene from the Channel 4 series  "Hollyoaks" was filmed. Actress Claire Cooper, who plays Jacqui McQueen was filmed on the terrace of an Irish pub and attracted the attention of many Brits who were passing by.

The series has recorded in other European destinations - in the past filming has also taken place in Dublin, Amsterdam and Ibiza. The fictional village is meant to be in Chester but the series is actually filmed in Liverpool and uses many of the houses that are in Brookside!

It was only last week that it was revealed that Claire Cooper is to leave the series in April - maybe with the cameras here in Alicante it shows her moving to Spain to start a new life. Her departure comes shortly after the arrival of her former cell-mate Trudy Ryan, played by former EastEnders actress Daniella Westbrook with whom she shares a dark secret....

Over the last year film crews were a regular sight in Benidorm and the surrounding towns. We had ITV recording 2 separate shows- Come Dine with Me and May the Best House Win, BBC 2 filming a  documentary This World and Channel 5 crew down at Hospital Clinica Benidorm doing Benidorm ER. .. we certainly are popular! Wonder who will be across next....
