Fed up of this all day?
If you are here on holiday, or are lucky enough to live here you may be now be fed up of lying around the pool or going to the beach each day and are wondering what else you can do on a Sunday. Here are some suggestions of places you could try ... and they are all FREE!

Benidorm market
Benidorm Market - this is on every Sunday (and Wednesday) and probably the biggest of all the markets on the Costa Blanca. You can buy all sorts here.... the stall holders set up early and are ready for trading by 8am. But a word of caution - pick pockets do operate in the area so be extra vigilant with you purse or wallet. DO NO take you passport OR credit cards ... they only take cash anyway and in the unfortunate event that you do have it pinched then at least your cards are safely back in your room. Also keep someof your money in the purse and some in another pocket - I don't mean to worry you but it can ruin your holiday if you happen to become a victim. There is a visible police presence patrolling, oh and also watch out for the pea men as you approach the market. Remember that there is also a night market every evening up in the Old Town.

El Cisne Rastro - a real favourite with locals! Its more of a second hand car boot and if you like that sort of thing then this is definately the place to come. For those with a car there is plenty of free parking otherwsie the number 10 bus stop directly outside... just get off when everyone else does. There is free entertainment there all afternoon - many just go to listen to that.

Tiny cobbled streets of Gudalest
Guadalest - a beautiful scenic village up in the mountains with breathtaking views - definately somewhere to visit whilst here. The total opposite to Benidorm. By car it will take you half an hour - go through Alfaz, La Nucia the take the new road straight up, all sign posted. Those without transport can take the number 16 bus from the centre of Benidorm - it gives you ap 2 hours which is enough for a browse and coffee. There is a house, which is a museum to browse around that has been set up as it was at the turn of the century with a guide sheet in English - a great history lesson.

Dive into the ice cold water to cool down
Font's Algar - the famous waterfalls just on the outskirts of Callosa. There is an entrance fee of 4 euros but well worth it / where else can you dive into an ice cold waterfall! Take a picnic and spend the day there .... but there is also a restaurant on sight. I would suggest popping into the supermarket and buying a fresh baguette, cheese, ham and some drinks and heading off.

Alternatively remember Carrefour is open until midnight, yes even on a Sunday and also the Marina Shopping Centre opposite opens on a Sunday from 4pm onwards.... failing all that, the bars will all be open for that 1.50 euro pint!
