main entranceThe newly refurbished Port Benidorm Hotel – previously the Dalmatas has undergone a multi million euro transformation and is stunning. It certainly couldn’t be better located – a mere stones throw to the sandy Levante beach and the nightlife of Benidorm... an ideal combination! Now a superior 4 star the first thing which strikes you is the modern open airy feel throughout.

lounge barOutside the main entrance is the parking and recharging area for mobility scooters – they are not allowed inside, but wheelchairs are welcome, with ramps throughout.. There are two separate bars, one of which has an outside terrace and in the evenings the glass doors slide open to create an even bigger area.

multi restaurantThe dining area can be seen from the outside and sweeps around the entire front, with floor to ceiling glass and provides some fantastic views of the Levante beach from the tables – what a place to eat your meals. There is also a quite room which has a pool table and internet access on the ground floor – WiFi is free throughout. As the hotel is in the heart of the Rincon, it is unsurprising that around 95% of the guests are British and all the staff speak English.

multi bedThe lifts, which serve the 18 floors all have state of the art electronic keypads - you press which floor you want and it directs you which of the four lifts to take. There are 288 rooms of which 87 are family rooms – each has a decent size balcony, wall mounted televisions, independent air conditioning systems, which are very quiet and comprehensive soundproofing.

kids poolThe outside pool area is very popular, with plenty of sunbeds available - not only around the poolside but also further back on astroturf giving it a lovely feel.  In addition to the main pool, which has a divided shallow portion, there is also a children’s water play area, which has water jets shooting out of the ground and a baby paddling pool.

port pool areaThe majority of guests stay on an All Inclusive basis and in addition to the bar there is also a self service buffet area, which is open from 11am until 7pm, allowing guests to enjoy a late breakfast, lunch or just snack by the poolside without having to get dressed and go inside to eat in the restaurant. The lifts go straight from the room floors to the pool terrace without the need to walk through the reception.

with managerThere are currently two areas of construction still taking place: Underneath the pool area will be the new gym and 400 sq mt spa treatment area – which includes an indoor heated pool, sauna and Turkish bath. But up at the very top is my favourite place – the roof top bar and I had a sneak preview with manager Camino. The views are absolutely spectacular, with a glass balcony and I am sure it will be a very popular spot to relax with a drink and watch the hustle and bustle below… this should be ready by the end of the year and will also be open for non-resident guests to enjoy.
