Despite being many miles away from Windsor, British expats and holidaymakers here in Benidorm celebrated the royal wedding in style. Virtually all the bars broadcast the wedding – which will no doubt be in stark contrast to later in the day! The giant screen around the Marina Hotel poolside was avidly watched, with a cheer when the couple exchanged vows and became man and wife.
Even a stag group walked the length of Calle Gerona with Harry and Meghan masks, accompanied by a man of the cloth! Down on the beachfront, a group of ladies from Northern Ireland went to great lengths with their co-ordinating outfits – enjoying a drink in the sun at the popular Tiki Beach, along with the hundreds of others.
Even the girls sunbathing on the beach had union jack bunting decorating their sunbeds.
In Albir, expat residents donned their finery with the best prize going to those at Wyndhams for decoration and effort – the ladies made a fantastic effort and toasted the happy couple with cava followed by a traditional afternoon tea.
