For once the tables are turned. Whilst the UK bathes in glorious sunshine over the Easter weekend, here in Spain we have experienced the worse winds and rainfall for many many years. Yesterday the entire area was on red alert, with the firebrigade being called out round the clock.
The Ozone bowling on Avd Mediterraneo flooded - unsurprisng as it is below ground level. Torrents of rainwater have cascaded down streets, sweeping everything in its path. Holidaymakers hoping for a sunshine break have been left understandably disappointed and most of the Easter parades last week were cancelled.
Sadly it really is a resort geared up for better weather and a struggle to find things to do when its wet and miserable, especially for families with children. The Marina Centre has a ten pin bowling alley, but most activities here are outdoors. Maybe it's time for a rethink?
The bar owners will be happy - as are the Chinese shops selling umbrellas and plastic ponchos. The only consolation for us is that the reservoir up in Guadalest will be nicely filled up for the forthcoming hot summer! For those in the UK, enjoy the sun whilst it lasts…
