St PatricksAlthough by no means anywhere near ´normal´ every week there seem to be more bars, cafes and restaurants opening up. Sadly St Patrick´s Day on the scale that we are all accustomed to didn´t happen, although the few Brit owned bars in particular that were open did make an effort with bunting and balloons for the locals, with many even dressing up.

Mirador greenHowever, to honour the occasion, Benidorm town hall illuminated the Mirador up in green at night, looking especially spectacular. Let´s all just hope that 2022 is the start of what we know and love and that calle Gerona will once again become a green zone, with plenty of shamrocks and leprechauns!

Busy Sunday promWe have had a few of days of cold wind and rain, keeping most people indoors but suddenly today, the sun reappeared, and everyone is back out. Granted it is Sunday, so most people are off but along the beach front it was particularly busy. It was lovely to see so many families out and about, even on the beach - with a few brave ones actually IN the sea.

Tiki townThe ever-popular Tiki Town has extended o the side, taking over where Costa Coffee once was and re-opened today. It was certainly brimming wih people, all enjoying a drink with a view. With the exception of say half a dozen bars, most along the front are now open bringing back some life and soul to the resort.

prom 1Although the perimeter restrictions remain until after Easter, there certainly appear to be more people here in the resort and more are likely to arrive over the next week. Some hotels are still not committing to a date for reopening, waiting to see when the international travel industry will restart.

Cimbel hotelCurrently there are a small handful open including Servigroup´s Diplomatic and Cimbel hotel right on the Levante beach. The ever-popular Sol Pelicanos has provisionally said May 13 and the adult only Don Pancho, May 17. But these are all subject to change dependenton the ever changing situation dictated by both the British and Spanish governments.

Andy Davies I couldn´t cope with that either in Portugal you just have to wear them when you can´t guarantee space between other people
