The annual Holi colour festival took place at Terra Natura in Benidorm this afternoon, attracting thousands of visitors to the park. Before the magical explosion of colour, the crowds gathered at the elephant enclosure to help celebrate Petita´s 51st Birthday! She, alongside her companion Kaiso, were treated to a basket of fruit and vegetables whilst everyone sang her happy birthday.
For the battle of colour, 320 kg of coloured powder and 3,500 bottles of coloured water were handed out, creating a rainbow of colour at the designated moment. Young children clung onto the shoulders of parents, at the ready with a bag of coloured powder to throw.
Workers then sprayed the crowd down with water canons to screeches of excitement – certainly a welcome relief in the blazing lunchtime sun. It is a fabulous fun filled family event and one thoroughly enjoyed by all those that attended.
