Christmas has now officially arrived in Benidorm! The town hall square, renamed Plaza de la Navidad – "Christmas Square" for the duration of the festive period is in full sparkly mode. The façade of the town hall is lit up with the words Feliz Navidad, Bon Nadal and Merry Christmas on a loop and a giant tree graces the approach- a perfect photo opportunity for visitors.
On the square itself there are children´s rides, the return of the popular ice rink and a number of stalls which will remain in place until January 8. For those planning on skating, gloves are compulsory so if you have them, bring your own otherwise you will need to buy them at the kiosk (and it´s cash only)
Hotels, shops and businesses are all in the festive spirit too, with lights, trees and decorations adorning their fronts. Calle Gambo has arches of lights to walk through and Plaza de Hispanidad has a nativity scene and decoration hanging from the giant rubber tree.
Temperatures are now more in line with the norm for this time of the year and although still relatively mild during the day, in the mid to late teens, at night there is certainly a chill in the air so pack something warm!
