  • The annual San Silvestre race took place in Benidorm this morning – with a wonderful backdrop of the glistening Mediterranean Sea and blue sky. This is the fifth such race, which always takes place on the first Sunday after Christmas. There were plenty of cheering spectators, out taking a morning stroll along the beachfront - many in short sleeves, enjoying the Winter sunshine.

  • Turnout for the Benidorm half marathon this morning was fantastic - a total of 1992 runners took part (1593 men and 399 women) and the entire route was lined with spectators cheering and clapping them along. But the real icing on the cake has to be that a Brit won - Joe Bailey with an incredible time of 1 hr 10 minutes and 25 seconds - over 2 minutes faster than the next runner!

    Get your trainers and lycra out, for this coming Sunday - 23rd November, Benidorm will be hosting its 31st annual Half Marathon. The well organised event attracts participants from around the world, including renowned marathon runners from Italy, Cuba and obviously Spain.

  • The 2016 “Vuelta” – the Spanish equivalent of the Tour de France cycle race will once again come to Benidorm. It has been announced that the penultimate stage, on Saturday 10 September, will depart from the town. It will be a challenging 184km route, ascending to 1,510 metres and take the competitors up to the Military Air Force base situated on the Sierra de Aitana.
