The annual Three Kings parade took place in Benidorm this evening (Thursday 5th) with Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar the stars of the event. Setting off (on time) at 6pm from Parque de Elche (Dove Park) in the old town, numerous floats – some themed and others of a religious theme were interspersed with animated dance routines and bands.
There was also plenty of livestock – goats, donkeys, oxen and to the delight of thousands gathered, the return of the very well-behaved geese! The obligatory sweets were thrown out to the crowds and the procession finished at the Julio Iglesias auditorium.
Tonight children will be rushing home to get to bed and awake tomorrow to see what the Kings have left them. January 6th is a bank holiday here and the last of the Christmas festivities – the sales start on Saturday and it´s back to school on Monday!
