Benidorm is currently celebrating its 14th Tapas and Pinchos contest, which officially started last Friday and is on until this coming Sunday, June 23... so plenty of time to try!
This is one of many events on the towns gastronomy calendar to promote local innovative food and attracts visitors to sample some spectacular creations - many look like works of art.
The public will be able to vote for their favourite by asking the waiter for the QR code of the competition, they scan it then rate the tapa tasted on their own mobile, giving a score between 1 and 5 stars and awarding the most popular piece at the end of the week second prize in the contest.
First place will be chosen by a panel of judges. Each person that takes part in the voting will automatically be entered into a raffle, with the chance to win dinner for 2 up to the value of €40 at any of the sixteen participating establishments.
All those taking part will have the poster in their window but a good place to start is Tapas Alley in the old town - off the "walking street" where about half are located. As the name implies, its a road full of tapas bars and restaurants and a very popular destination for visitors.
