The heart of the Rincon de Loix was transformed into a carnival of colour today – with an incredible display and variety of fancy dress outfits. Despite forecast of potential storms and wind, the day has been clear and even the sun shone through.
In a press release, Town Hall figures have estimated that “more than 30,000 Brits” descended for this annual event which always takes place on a Thursday - the day after the official end of the Benidorm fiestas.
Calle Gerona and the adjoining streets were cut off to traffic, allowing revellers to roam freely and safely. Around mid-afternoon, a float parade, sponsored by the numerous popular bars and hotel chains took place, with many Benidorm entertainers taking part.
Age was certainly no barrier, as old and young mingled together, enjoying the party atmosphere and many will no doubt still be there well into the early hours of the morning! I expect that there will also be a few sore heads in the morning...
