  • Thankfully the predicted downpours didn’t materialize this afternoon and the highlight of Pride Week – the colourful parade, went ahead. Even Her Majesty made an appearance as well as plenty of other queens! There was an abundance of rainbow flags, colourful and sometimes barely there outfits as well as lots of cheeky feathers.

  • For the fifth consecutive year, the resort will celebrate Benidorm Pride with a calendar of colourful events. Starting this Monday, 7th September the Old Town will transform into a rainbow of colour, jammed packed with nightly events, a tapas & wine route and culminating with “The Parade” on Saturday 12th.

  • The colourful and vibrant parade took place on Saturday afternoon, the highlight of Benidorm Pride for many - especially the spectators. An estimated 400 participants dressed up in a variety of eye catching and flamboyant costumes – some leaving very little to the imagination! Cars, vans and lorries were converted into floats and mobile sound studios, blasting out music to add to the carnival like atmosphere.

  • Many come here to Benidorm for the nightlife and to party and we thank you all for choosing this wonderful place that over the years has become home to us expats. The entertainers are second to none as most will have experienced, with a huge selection of acts to suit every taste – from tribute acts to singers and comedians. The list is endless and each is 100% professional, giving it their all each evening. Many probably think what a great life they have, working a few hours in the evening and basically lounging around all day. Perhaps some do and good luck to them, however there is one in particular that I feel warrants a special mention as he does anything but – Colin Brown or as many will know him by his alter ego Miss Coco Chanel – Queen of Visual Comedy.

  • It was a busy day in Benidorm today – firstly with the La Vuelta cycle race this morning, starting stage 20, a 193.2km route which was won by Pierre Latour (ALM) despite many attempts by Britain’s Chris Froome of Team Sky to overtake. But the real excitement was for the Pride Parade, which was scheduled for a 5pm start but was nearer to 6pm before it set off from the Rincon. Hundreds went to great lengths dressing up and getting into the spirit of the occasion – and even Her Majesty made an appearance...in addition to a number of other queens!

Participants and spectators started to gather at the Rincon end of the Levante beach from around 3pm, for the anticipated 4pm start... which as with all things Spanish, was late! But not many seemed to notice as they walked around admiring the array of multi coloured outfits.

  • The sixth Benidorm Pride has kicked off and there are plenty of events on up at in Old Town throughout this week. Tomorrow - Wednesday is the official Opening Gala Party at the Mirador with drag queens, local artistes, DJ's, full bar service and best of all - it's FREE! On Thursday there is a ‘White Party’ up at the Mirador, starting at 8pm until 1am and the following night, Friday is the ‘Black Party’ - which will be staged at the Auditorium Julio Iglesias (behind the Town Hall). But what many deem the highlight of the week, the Parade, takes place on Saturday afternoon where glitz, sequins and feathers will be the order of the day!
