The Alicante fiesta queen was there to cut the ribbon and officially open the store with management from the Primark Head Office.

An ITV is the Spanish equivalent of an MOT for all motor vehicles. In Spain a car is required by law to be tested once it is 4 years old - every two years then once it is 10 years old it has to be tested every year. In the UK vehicles have to be tested every year when they reach 3 years. The rates for a test vary depending on fuel and whether they have a catalytic converter.

Many of you will be looking forward to your Easter break here in Benidorm ... sun, sea, sand etc. The stressful bit is always the flight over - will your case be overweight and therefore subject to an extortionate excess fee, will you manage to sit together on the plane - having refused to pay even more to pre-book the seats on those that offer "the service".

La Nucia Sunday rastro moves to a new location

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive

Yesterday saw the first day of trading at the new location for the La Nucia rastro. Previously the rastro had been located on the road where the Centro de Salud is - a built up residential area which proved somewhat of a nuisance to neighbours and the health centre. But the rastro has now "come home" to where it first started 30 years ago - on the "L'Alberca Industrial estate".

Showboat in Benidorm opens

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive

Last night was the opening night of Benidorm's newest entertainment venue and my goodness what a night. People were queuing from 7.30pm for the 8pm opening - it was like the first day of the Harrod's sale!  When the doors opened floods of people came rushing in - half of Benidorm must have arrived. I even noticed local competition in the way of David Climent of Benidorm Palace there keeping a check on what he's up against!

Countdown to the opening of "Showboat" in Benidorm

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive

With only a week left till the grand opening of "Showboat" - Benidorm's newest venue and the place to be seen, I decided to pop by and check on progress. I was greeted by a posse of workmen who were all going about their various jobs - painting, electrical installations, tiling - everywhere I looked someone was banging or screwing (no pun intended there). Wayne kissed me hello and goodbye as he was en-route to the paint shop

Carnaval in Benidorm review

The streets were lined with spectators eagerly awaiting the start of the procession - which was more or less on time. The music coming out of the sound system along the route was SO loud you could feel the pavement vibrating - unsuprisingly the only empty spaces along the route was right next to these speakers! There were 41 penyas taking part in the fancy dress procession but I must say I was somewhat dissapointed this year.
