Last night (Saturday 5 October) the spectacular parade of the Moors and Christians too place in Benidorm. The event is celebrated in many Spanish towns and cities and commemorate the battles, combats and fights between Moors (or Muslims) and Christians during the period known as "Reconquista" - the time from the 8th century through to the 15th century. The festivals represent the capture of the city by the Moors and the subsequent Christian conquest.

The annual midnight fireworks take place tonight – Saturday 10 August at L´Olla in Altea – an event that attracts tens of thousands of spectators from across the entire country. The spectacular display, which marks the end of the San Lorenzo fiesta has been taking place since 1988 and will be lit from floating pontoons - the reflection from the sea increases and magnifies the colours even more. There will be extra trams to take you back to Benidorm operating till nearly 4am.

Benidorm are cetainly all geared up with extra deliveries of beer to ensure there will be plenty whether in celebration or commiseration. The annual Medieval Market is up and running in Benidorm this weekend – located in Dove Park at the beginning of the Poniente beach in the old town. On until tomorrow evening (Sunday 12th) there are plenty of stalls, processions and demonstrations of bygone crafts in addition to numerous food stalls.

Benidorm Palace hosted “Save My Life 11” this afternoon (Sunday 28 April) – a charity fundraiser to raise much needed money to help towards the cost of rescue, fostering and rehoming abandoned animals – predominantly dogs. The event was hosted by popular duo Paul Thacker and Mark Simon Ellis, performing as his alter ego Miss Ruby Rox, in an array of spectacular glittering dresses and raised a massive €30, 819!

Benidorm was "All Shook Up" this weekend for the much anticipated annual Elvis fiesta. There was an incredible weekend of entertainment lined up for the Elvis fans - fun filled poolside shows at the Melia, Elvis themed games, a world class ETA line up with shows going on in 3 separate venues and of course the legendary after show parties - which went on well into the early hours! But the highlight for many is the grand finale at Benidorm Palace on Sunday evening, featuring all of the Elvis Tribute artistes together!

Tonight saw the climax of the Easter Processions in Benidorm, with all of the brotherhoods from churches in Benidorm taking part this Good Friday. Spain certainly retains its traditions and cultural identity as would have been demonstrated across many towns and cities this evening. The streets were jam packed with spectators lining the entire route for this visual and moving spectacle that takes place every year.

Light, colour and music flooded the streets of Benidorm last night for the annual Carnival parade which took place in the old town.The avenida Ruzafa was lined with spectators, taking in the atmosphere and cheering as the parade passed, with many dancing to the beat of the music blasting from the giant speakers erected along the route.

The spectacular Three Kings parade took place in Benidorm old town this evening (Friday 5th) – a tradition repeated in many towns and cities across Spain on the eve of ‘Los Reyes Magos’ tomorrow, which is a bank holiday here. The floats left from Dove Park just at the start of sunset, making for a beautiful backdrop, finshing at the town hall and onto the L´Aiguera Park where fireworks signalled the end of the event.
