  • WHEN IT comes to drag shows in Benidorm, Miss Coco Chanel is often referred to as the "Queen of Visual Comedy" - and it´s not hard to see why, performing an amazing 12 costume changes within a spectacular one hour show! The man behind the many faces of Coco is Colin Brown – a funny, energetic and extremely talented artiste. He performs a full mime comedy drag show – with emphasis on the mime as he readily admits his voice would empty a room in 10 seconds flat!

  • Many have been watching the Channel 5 documentary series “Bargain Loving Brits in the Sun” with avid interest over the last few weeks – and one face that most Beni lovers will instantly recognize is that of Wayne Edward Bellamy-Wright aka Miss Levi. Well the Queen is back after a well deserved break - Miss Levi the epitome of entertainment is once again packing the crowds in night after night.

  • One of the main draws to Benidorm after the sun must be the nightlife - and I include drinking in that category! It is probably the entertainment capital of Europe such is the variety and diversity which can be found here.Whatever your personal taste in music you can virtually be guaranteed to find it in one of the many bars and clubs. You can hear and watch a selection of very talented people, but one name which consistently stands out is Pablo Bloom.

  • Comedy duo Rikki Stevens and sidekick Little Fred - you can´t mention one without the other, have been playing to a packed house since arriving in Benidorm back in 2000 and he hasn´t looked back or ever regretted the move."Nothing gives me greater pleasure then putting a smile on peoples faces and making them laugh" he told me... and he certainly did that last night when I went to watch him at "Talk of the Town"

  • I agree with the adage "If you can´t find something which you like in Benidorm then you are impossible to entertain". With the number of performers here, you could easily stay for an entire week - in fact make that a fortnight and never see the same act twice. One group that you should make a point of watching are "Shoe Waddy Waddy" - you can´t fail to see them, dressed in the requisite bright teddy boy suits and thick crepe soled shoes!

  • Taylor Marcs is a talent to take note of on the Benidorm entertainment circuit. The fact that he has only been here since January but already working 7 nights a week, with up to 3 shows per night speaks for itself! I met the gentle giant, all 6 ft 5” of him before his show at the Riviera Music Lounge and he is a gem - one of the funniest, sincerest and genuine of people you are likely to meet. He came with his constant companion Gale – as in Gales Honey, which he always has to hand to soothe his vocals!

  • At last – the Benidorm boys can be seen in all their glory… but it´s all in aid of a very worthy cause! Wayne, aka Miss Levi is hugely revered and respected for all the fundraising work that he does in the community – especially for Emaus. Another great champion is Paul of Foley´s Bar and so these two admired advocates, together with partners Des and Jackie have joined forces, and ideas, to produce a fantastic charity calendar, which is now available to buy.

  • According to El Pais, a national Spanish newspaper, under today´s "Culture" section is a piece about the radical contrasts of entertainment on offer in Benidorm.Walk around the Rincon de Loix area and virtually every bar and club has a board outside listing the various entertainers and tribute acts on with the times. Entry to these places is free - all they hope is that once you are in you will stay for the night and purchase drinks.

  • Albi Senior is one of the most talked about comedians on the Benidorm circuit - you certainly can´t miss him in his distinctive Union Jack attire. I met up with the man himself for a coffee and my first question was "is there an Albi Junior then"? He laughed as he explained how his name came about -  as he finished his show his parting catchphrase was "I´ll be seeing ya"... it took me some time for the penny to drop...

  • Benidorm is renowned for its selection and variation of entertainment on offer – with particular focus on the fantastic tribute acts. The resort offers something for everyone – but a firm favourite, especially with the girls is the Olly Murs show. Only going since March 2013, the talent behind the sensational voice, which ensures a packed room, is Troy Fallaize – although the fact that he is rather gorgeous to look at may also have something to do with it!

  • Refreshingly non PC comedian Tony Scott manages to pack the house out every night in Stardust, where he is exclusive and the resident comedian. Many have varying views and opinions of his somewhat controversial near to the knuckle jokes, but the fact that there is standing room only on virtually every night speaks for itself! He is easy to spot, with his distinctive ponytail and brightly coloured shiny shirts and comes out singing, leaving newbies wondering if they have come to the correct venue – but before long, they realize that they definitely have.

  • Talent scouts from Britain’s most popular talent show, the X Factor are coming to Benidorm to conduct auditions for the next series, which will be broadcast on ITV this autumn. This will be the 15 series of the show, which has created some of the biggest recording artists worldwide including One Direction, Little Mix – the first group to win the competition, Olly Murs and Leona Lewis. The resort is famed for its incredible line up of talented entertainers and the word has spread to the bosses at Thames TV, who are sending out a team of 4 to track them down.

  • For wannabe stars, now is your time to shine. Auditions are taking place in Benidorm this weekend for the ITV talent show The X-Factor. This morning the team – producer Toyah, accompanied by Suzy and Jordi spent the morning at Tiki City, on the popular Calle Gerona. Tomorrow – Saturday, April 7, they will be at Voices, where it is open-mic auditions, meaning you can just turn up and have a go. Don’t be shy – give it a try! Anyone can have a go, whether you are a local resident, entertainer or just here on holiday. After Benidorm they are taking off and hitting Tenerife for 5 days.
